Ingredients
Method
Ingredients
- 1 ¾ cups Pams plain flour
- ½ cup Pams cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 165g Pams pure butter, melted
- 1 ¾ cups Value milk
Method
- Preheat your oven to 180°C bake. Line the base and sides of a 20cm cake tin.
- In a large bowl sift together flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and sugar. Whisk to combine.
- Add the butter, eggs and milk. Whisk until just combined, then transfer into the lined cake tin.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
- Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack to cool completely.
Top Tip:
- One of the easiest frostings you can make for a chocolate cake is chocolate ganache. Mix equal parts chocolate chips with warm (not hot) cream and stir gently until the mixture is smooth and shiny. Let it cool slightly before frosting your cake. Easy!
- If you want to remove the sugar, you can substitute the caster sugar for sugar-substitutes like Stevia. Remember to adjust the amounts as stevia is a lot sweeter than sugar. A rule of thumb is to use half the amount of stevia: ½ cup rather than 1 cup. Check the packaging for the exact conversion.
- Want to go eggless? Experiment with common egg replacements like unsweetened applesauce, mashed banana or yoghurt.
