Cheesy baked meatballs
Our cheesy baked meatballs are the definition of soul food, and this one-dish wonder is bound to be your next family favourite! Best served hot with a side salad and some buttery garlic bread.

- 500g beef mince
- 1 large egg, beaten
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 420g can pasta sauce
- ¾ cup grated mozzarella
Method
- Preheat your oven to 190℃ fan bake. In a bowl, mix together the beef mince, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, dried herbs, garlic and season with salt and pepper. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.
- Using wet hands, roll the mince mixture into 12-16 balls. Bring a large oven-safe pan to medium heat with a glug of olive oil, then cook the meatballs for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden.
- Pour the pasta sauce and ½ cup of water over the meatballs, then fold to coat the meatballs in the sauce.
- Sprinkle over the grated cheese, then bake for 15 minutes or until the sauce is bubbling and the meatballs have cooked through. Leave to sit for 5 minutes before serving, then enjoy!
Top tip:
Give this dish a chef-like twist with a drizzle of beautiful basil oil! Simply blend two large handfuls of basil leaves with a garlic clove and ¼ cup of olive oil until smooth, then drizzle over the freshly cooked meatballs.
