A no-knead, no fuss, minimal effort bread with only three ingredients, plus some water.

  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • A pinch of salt

Method

  1. In a large bowl combine flour, yeast and a generous pinch of salt. Mix until well combined, then add one and a half cups of warm water. Stir until a soft but slightly sticky dough forms, adding more water if necessary.
  2. Cover and place in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Place a heavy based casserole dish with a lid into the oven and preheat to 220°C.
  4. Place the dough on a lightly floured working surface. Using floured hands shape the dough into a round and lightly dust the top with flour. Place on two sheets of baking paper seam side down. Carefully lower the baking paper with the dough into the preheated dish.
  5. Cover and bake for 30 minutes, then remove the lid and cook for a further 10 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a cooling rack and leave to cool before serving.
